Mr. Thomas Leon Parker

October 20, 1953 — December 26, 2020

On Saturday, December 26, 2020, at the age of 67, Mr. Thomas Leon Parker died in his home in Midland City, Alabama, surrounded by family after battling cancer.

A celebration of his life will be held at 1 pm on Thursday, December 31, 2020 in Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Josh Parker officiating. Military honors will follow in Sunset Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 12-1 pm.

Mr. Parker was born in Pascagoula, Mississippi to the late James & Vida Parker where he was raised and lived in early adulthood. It was there that he met his former wife and began a family.

At the age of 19 years old, Mr. Parker enlisted in the Marine Corps where he served his country from 1973 to 1979 and was then honorably discharged after being promoted to Sergeant. During his time in the service, he received several awards. Following his discharge, Mr. Parker worked as a diesel mechanic and on his brother’s shrimp boat.

Mr. Parker and his family moved to the Southport, Florida area in the mid 1980's and it was there that he spent the majority of his life. Mr. Parker's greatest joy in life came from his children, and later his visits with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Mr. Parker is survived by his children, Stacey (David) Watson, Pamela (Shane) Miller, Timothy Parker, Danielle (Elliott) Melvin & Joshua Parker; his grandchildren, Kyle (Megan) Watson, Brad Watson, Eric Watson, Beverly Miller, TJ Miller, Ethan Parker, Ashelynn (Tony) Norris, Emma Melvin, Jude Melvin, Jesse Melvin, Eli Seton, Zoey Turner, Jayden Valverde & Jaxon Valverde; his great grandchildren, Nolan Norris, Avery Miller; and by his siblings, Adonia "Dene" Perry, James Parker, David Parker.

Mr. Parker is preceded in death by his parents, James & Vida Parker; his grandson, Cameron Parker; his siblings, Jackie Richards, Judy Humphrey, Bill Parker, and Roy Parker.

A special thank you to Dale County Home Health and Community Hospice for the care and support during this difficult time. To 21st Oncology and Dothan Hematology for helping him fight the battle, as well as Jessica Parker for being a special caregiver to him during his battle.

The family finds peace in knowing that Mr. Parker is healed and dancing in heaven where there is no more pain and suffering.
