Myra Nell Allen

May 12, 1938 — March 16, 2017

Myra Nell George Allen, 78, a resident of Ayer, Massachusetts and formerly of Dothan, AL passed away on Thursday, March 16, 2017 at Apple Valley Nursing Center following an extended illness.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 25, 2017 at the Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Felix George officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park with Robert Byrd directing. The family will receive friends from 10-11:00 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.

Mrs. Allen was the third child born to the late Buford C. and Addie George in Henry County. She received her BS Degree from Talladega College and taught school in Ashford, Alabama for 16 years and further pursued her teaching career in Norfolk, VA where she retired from Norfolk Public School in 2003.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, and sisters, Mary Grimsley, Beaudell Lawrence, Edna Respress, Elizabeth Danzey, Vincie Smith, and brother Willie D. George.

Myra Allen was married to the late James E. Allen Sr. to which six kids were born. She is survived by her children, James E. Allen, Jr. of Suffolk, VA., Deborah Allen King of Hendersonville, NC., Renay Allen DelRosario (Antonio) of Ayer, MA., Juralene Knight (Edward) of Shorterville, AL., Kenneth Allen (Eddrina) of Lowell, MA., Eldred Allen of Fitchburg, MA.; her adopted son, Charles Washington of Ayer, MA.; her grandchildren, Caressa Graham of Boca Raton, FL., Nekisha Goodman (Alvin) of Churchland, VA., James Allen III of Atlanta, GA., Aaliyah Allen of Virginia Beach, VA., David Washington Jr. of Hendersonville, NC., Charlene Knight of Shorterville, AL., Michael and Michell Knight of Shorterville, AL.; great-grandchildren, Love Graham, Destiny Duran Richmond Belcher and Lewis Duran; siblings, Lelar Knight of Dothan, AL., Josephine Whitchurst (James) of Columbia, SC., Buford George (Wanda) of Dothan, AL., Felix George (Anitha) of Jacob, FL.; a host of brothers-in-law, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.< /p> ) Burial Date March 25, 2017
