With broken hearts we announce that our beloved matriarch Nancy Victoria Libby, 73, died in her Cowarts, Alabama home on Saturday July 10th, 2022. She was blessed to take her final breaths in the tender arms of her husband and surrounded by her loving children.
Nancy was born to Sylvio and Edwina Cyr on January 18, 1949 in Aroostook County, Maine. Alongside her older sister Linda and her younger brother Gary, she and her siblings were raised to value education, hard work, church, and family. After college, Nancy pursued a career as a registered nurse where she spent more than four decades compassionately caring for patients from all walks of life. Her career was full of notable accomplishments, but Nancy was most proud of the day-to-day care she provided to her patients, where her kind smile and gentle touch always left an enduring impression.
Nancy was married to the love of her life, Donald M. Libby Jr, on October 17th, 1987. Over their 35 year romance, they lived in Maine, Florida, Alaska, North Dakota, and Alabama where they lovingly raised their family and where Nancy always made sure each place felt like "home". Nancy was a humble and generous spirit, a devoted Catholic, and continuously strived to make others feel loved. She was blessed with numerous special talents, including finding the ideal gift for any occasion, decorating a house to make people feel truly at "home," sending the perfect greeting card at just the right time, or curating a garden at her home that will surely be enjoyed for generations to come.
Nancy will join her parents and savior in heaven and is survived by a large extended family here on earth. She leaves behind her best friend and adoring husband Don, her children and their spouses, her grandchildren, and her great-grandchild. She will be profoundly missed by JJ and Kelly Williams (NH) and their two children, Christian and Libby; Chris and Ingrid Libby (ME) and their three children: Isabel, Caleb, and William; Tory Libby (FL) and her four children Olivia, Shawn, Kyle, and Evan; Ashley and Jeffery Bethel (AK) and their eight children Katelin, Hannah, Jordan, Grace, Parker, Zachary, Liam, Rowan, and granddaughter Magnolia; Erica and John Eric Duhaime (AL) and their three children Mackenzie, Nicholas, and Paxton; Erin and Joshua Lowe (AL) and their four children: Micaela, Emma, Gavin, and Nolan; and Michael LIbby (TX) and his daughter Victoria.
Visitation will be held at Sunset Memorial Park (Dothan, AL), Thursday July 14th at 2pm and a Celebratory Mass (followed by reception) Saint Columba Catholic Church (Dothan, AL), Friday July 15th at 11am.
On behalf of her husband and children, we would like to extend our sincere gratitude to Saint Columba Catholic Church for all of the love, kindness and support during this difficult time. We would also like to thank the many neighbors, friends, family, acquaintances, and anyone that was lucky enough to experience her love, as each of you contributed to the extraordinary woman she was.
