Okey B Yost

Okey B. Yost, Jr., a resident of Dothan, passed away on Monday, September 11, 2017 at a local hospital. He was 82.

A memorial service will be held at 11 am on Thursday, September 14, 2017 in Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Johnny Fain officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 10-11 am. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial contributions be made to First Baptist Church, 300 W. Main Street, Dothan, AL 36303 or to your favorite charity.

Mr. Yost was born on February 26, 1935 in Bluefield, West Virginia and grew up in Bluefield, Virginia. He attended Bluefield College and Virginia Tech and was a United States Army Veteran. Mr. Yost had a long career in communications having worked for General Telephone of the Southeast in West Virginia, North Carolina, and Georgia, Central Telephone Company in Florida, Southern Communications in Alabama, and Nortel Networks in North Carolina and Florida before retiring.

Mr. Yost was preceded in death by his parents Okey B. Yost, Sr. and Beulah Grace Yost.

Survivors include his wife of 39 years, Elaine Hancock Yost; his two daughters, Holly (Jack) Faison, Moultrie, GA and Courtney (Jamerson) Watts, Columbus, MS; his three sons, Thomas (Susan) Yost, Jacksonville, FL, Jared (Tina) Yost, Moultrie, GA, and Brandon (Courtney Scarbrough) Yost, Newton, AL; and his nine grandchildren and one great-grandson.
