Ottis Massey

Ottis Massey, a resident of Dothan, Alabama passed away on Friday, February 23, 2018 at Wesley Place on Honeysuckle. He was 80. Memorial services will be held on Monday, February 26, 2018 at 1 pm in Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Tim Willis officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12-1 pm on Monday. Ottis was born on October 24, 1937 in Blountsville, Alabama and lived there the early years of his life. He joined the U.S. Air Force and after his service he was a member of the Birmingham Police Department from 1959-1967. Mr. Massey spent most of his career with Nationwide Insurance and served in several areas of the company until his retirement in 1995. Ottis enjoyed hunting, fishing and playing golf. He was an active member of the Lions Club and Ridgecrest Baptist Church. Mr. Massey was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Ann Massey; his son, Derek Vaughn Massey; and his brother Flay Massey. Survivors include his son, Rusty Massey; his grandchildren, Jordan (Adam) Massey Ochoa, Julie Massey, Chase (Kylie) Massey, Lindsay Massey, Jaison Massey and Megan Henderson; his greatgrandchild, Finley Massey; his brother, Alton Massey; and his sisters, Betty Bullard, Iva-Lee Martin and Lorene Hayes.
