Owen Madsen

On Wednesday, April 24th, 2019, Owen Madsen passed away at age 76. Owen was born on November 11, 1942, in San Antonio, Texas. After graduating from High School, he enlisted in the Army and advanced through the ranks to Chief Warrant Officer in the Counter Intelligence Corps. He was the intelligence officer of assistance to the Ambassador in Europe and SE Asia. He served during the Vietnam War and was decorated with two Bronze Stars and The Air Medal. In his later years, he said he was most happy with receiving The Air Medal. After his years of military service, he continued to work in investigations as assistant director for private firms and later became the owner of Investigative Services Group in Atlanta, Georgia. Owen married Mazie Dianne Madsen on April 14, 1963. Owen and Dianne had a passion for their many pets and they were avid animal lovers. Owen was known for his quick wit and compassionate spirit. Very few, if any people earned the distinction of winning a round of chess against him. He was loved by all who knew him. Owen was preceded in death by his wife, Dianne, mother, Vara Lee (McClure), his father Ernie, and his brother, Richard. He is survived by his sister, Margie (m. Billy), and numerous family members, cousins, nieces, and nephews. A memorial service followed with military honors will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 27th, 2019 in Sunset Memorial Park, Dothan, Alabama. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Dayspring Hospice (3160 W. Main Street, Suite 1, Dothan, AL 36305) or The Wiregrass Humane Society (255 Jerry Drive, Dothan, Alabama 36303).
