Pam Miles

Pamela Marie Miles lived a life filled with love, kindness, and selflessness. Born on February 22, 1976, in Fort Sill, Oklahoma, Pam's journey was one of passion, purpose, and service, touching the lives of many until her peaceful passing in Dothan, Alabama, on July 22, 2024, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Pam's educational aspirations led her to Troy University, where she not only earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees, but also met the love of her life, Jeff. Jeff and Pam got married on March 15, 1997. They adored one another and everyone could see it. Together, they shared a special kind of love that everyone admired. Their marriage portrayed the perfect picture of how love should feel and look and set an example for many. With Jeff by her side, Pam's life blossomed as they welcomed their two wonderful children, Patrick and Haley, who were the center of her universe.

Professionally, Pam's career was marked by her commitment to the service of others. Starting as a juvenile probation officer in Greenville, she gained firsthand experience in advocating for troubled youth. Her compassion and determination led her to serve in many roles in her community such as her time as a counselor at The Haven, founding Change My Mind Consulting, and creating several programs that made lasting impacts on her community.

Pam's true calling came when she assumed the role of executive director at the Exchange Center for Child Abuse Prevention. Here, she passionately championed the rights and well-being of vulnerable children, dedicating herself to creating a safer environment for them. Her leadership and advocacy were instrumental in shaping policies and programs aimed at preventing child abuse and supporting affected families. Pam's life story serves as a powerful reminder of the difference one person can make through dedication, passion, and a genuine commitment to serving others.

Pam's commitment to her community extended beyond her professional roles. As a proud member of the Dothan Area Chamber of Commerce and the United Way, she embodied the spirit of volunteerism. Her tireless advocacy for those in need was a testament to her character and the legacy she leaves behind.

Family was the cornerstone of Pam's existence. Her sister Becky was her lifelong best friend. She cherished her nieces and nephews. "Camp Pam" was the highlight of the year, a time of joy, adventure, and unconditional love. Pam's children were her pride, and she relished in creating memorable moments with them, like spontaneously checking Patrick out of school to enjoy the latest Step Up movie together or checking Haley out of school just to snuggle. Random beach trips were frequent! Every interaction with Pam was an adventure, and her nurturing spirit made every child feel like they were her own.

Pam approached life with an adventurous heart, believing that every day was an opportunity to make a difference and a memory. She was a woman with a servant’s heart and a young spirit who loved her family, her friends, her life, and most of all, making every moment count for herself and others. She was a force to be reckoned with and will forever be in the hearts and minds of many.

We will celebrate Pam's life at 2:00 pm on Saturday, July 27, 2024, at Wiregrass Church, honoring a woman whose existence was a beacon of hope and a source of inspiration. The family requests that everyone wear vibrant and colorful clothing in her honor. Friends are welcome to visit the family from 6:00-8:00 pm on Friday, July 26, 2024, at Sunset Funeral Home. In memory of Pam, the family kindly requests that donations be made to The Exchange Center for Child Abuse Prevention (The Exchange Center)
