Patsy Compton

Patricia McGriff "Patsy" Compton, 79, of Dothan passed away Saturday, September 3, 2011 at her residence.

rnFuneral services will be held 11 am Tuesday, September 6, 2011 at Sunset Funeral Home with Rev. Ray Jones officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park with Robert Byrd directing. The family will receive friends from 10-11 am on Tuesday at the funeral home. Flowers are being accepted or memorial donations may be made to Camp Victory, 363 Victory Circle, Samson, AL, 36477, or to Gentiva/Wiregrass Hospice, 2740 Headland Ave., Dothan, AL, 36303. rnMrs. Compton was born September 28, 1931 in Headland, AL and spent the early part of her life there. She was a graduate of Headland High School and was a former Miss Headland in 1949. She married Charles Ray Compton in 1949 and relocated to Dothan a short time later. Mrs. Compton was a proud homemaker and enjoyed several hobbies to include sewing, gardening, crocheting, cross-stitching, and embroidery. She was a long time member of Ridgecrest Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray, and a son Kenneth Ray Compton. rnSurvivors include her daughter Monica Jack Hardwick of Dothan; sons, Barry Kathy Compton of Dothan, and Doug Martha Compton of Headland; 6 grandchildren, Benjamin Hardwick, Timothy Hardwick, Micah Hardwick, Chad Compton, Kevin Compton, and Cassie Compton; a nephew Michael Libby Compton; a great niece Karen Powell; great nephews, Jonathan Compton and Andrew Compton.
