Patsy Galloway Ward

April 28, 1940 — October 16, 2014

Patsy Galloway Ward, of Dothan, formerly of Geneva and Hartford, passed away in UAB hospital, Thursday, October 16, 2014, after a short illness, with her husband and children surrounding her.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 21, 2014 at the Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Steve Skidmore officiating. Burial will be in Hartford City Cemetery with Robert Byrd directing. The family will receive friends from 9-10 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorial donations can be made to Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation in honor of her grandson, Ross Eldridge Jones, flowers also will be accepted.

Patsy Ann Galloway was born April 28, 1940, in Hartford, to the late Homer C. and Rossie Mae Galloway. She graduated from Geneva County High School in 1958. She married George Eldridge Ward November 15, 1959. She was an Magna Cum Laude accounting honor graduate of Troy University, Dothan in 1985. She spent her work life at Benson Wholesale Company and its successor Fleming Foods, Geneva  for 28 years. She was the Human Resource Manager for many of her work years retiring in 2001. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Geneva. She held many teaching positions and was a member of the choir for many years. Patsy had a beautiful alto voice and sang many solos. Most of all she was proud of her family, her children and grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her brother Jerry Galloway.

Patsy is survived by her devoted husband of 55 years, George; two children, Leisa Ward Aaron Jones and Jeffrey George Ward; two beloved grandsons, Ross Eldridge Jones, and Jackson Aaron Jones, all of Dothan; survived also by siblings, Peggy Bill Kelly of Ft. Walton Beach, FL, Larry Glenda Galloway of Hartford, AL, Karol Vaughn Lee of Archer, FL, Margie Steve Lee of Bainbridge, FL, and Kenny Susan Galloway of Hartford, AL; many nieces and nephews, several cousins and many friends.

Patsy believed in hard work, loving God, and caring for her family. She was an accomplished person who always knew she could do anything she put her mind to. She was always busy, even in retirement, believing in accomplishing many worthy tasks each day. She was never one to sit around and waste time.
