Phillip Alfred Jones, Jr., 65, of Taylor passed away Saturday, December 21, 2013 at his residence.
Funeral services will be 12pm Tuesday, December 24, 2013 at Mt. Gilead Baptist Church with Rev. Bradley Rushing officiating. The family will receive friends from 11-12 pm prior to the service at the church. Flowers are being accepted or memorial donations may be made to the Mt. Gilead Baptist Church Walk Through Bethlehem, 2864 S. Brannon Stand Rd., Dothan, AL, 36305, or to the Memphis Baptist Church Faith Riders, 4595 Eddins Rd., Dothan, AL, 36301.
Mr. Jones was born September 16, 1948 in Lawton, OK and lived the early part of his life in Cash, OK. He moved to Ozark, AL in 1954. He graduated from Carroll High School and received his Registered Nursing Degree from Wallace College. He worked as a registered nurse at Flowers Hospital, Southeast Alabama Medical Center, Southeast Cardiology, and as a travelling nurse in New York. Mr. Jones medically retired in 2011. He was a member of Mt. Gilead Baptist Church since 1984 where he was a Sunday School Teacher and a member of the choir. He was also a member of the Memphis Baptist Church Faith Riders. Mr. Jones was preceded in death by his father Phillip Alfred Jones, Sr., and his sister Rose Marie Gulledge.
Survivors include his wife Regina Jones; sons, Phillip Alfred "Trey" Erin Jones, III, and David Anthony "Tony" Leslie Jones; a grandson Dylan Zane Jones; his mother Audrey Mae Jones; brothers, Phil Benton Patsy Jones, and Danny Wendy Jones; a sister Shirley Walker; several nieces and nephews also survive.
Serving as pallbearers will be the Memphis Baptist Church Faith Riders. Honorary pallbearers will be the Bob Haynes Sunday School Class.
