Phyllis Theresa Hightower

Phyllis Theresa Hightower of Dothan, passed away on Sunday, January 26, 2020 in Mobile, AL. She was 87. A memorial service will be held at 2 pm on Wednesday, January 29, 2020 in Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Monsignor Patrick Gallagher officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday one hour prior to the services. Mrs. Hightower was born on April 3, 1932 in Biloxi, Mississippi and lived the early years of her life there. She graduated from Sacred Heart Catholic School and married her high school sweetheart, Lionel Hightower. Together they traveled to Miami and she became a Legal Secretary for a law firm. Mrs. Hightower was known for never meeting a stranger and enjoyed talking to everyone she met. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and Christian. Mrs. Hightower was preceded in death by her husband, Lionel Ernest Hightower; her parents, Phillip and Elizabeth Lechner; and her sister Merle Abshire. Survivors include her sons, Alan (Donna) Hightower, Barry (Tammy) Hightower, and Lionel (Barbara) Hightower; her grandchildren, Jason (Maggie) Hightower, Derek (girlfriend Emily) Hightower, and Ryan Cooper Hightower; and step-grandchild, Brandon Nelson.
