Bernard Quay Peel, 81, a resident of Cowarts, AL passed away Tuesday, March 3, 2015 at his home in La Feria, TX.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday, March 9, 2015 at the Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Van Clack officiating. Burial will follow in Bluff Springs Baptist Church Cemetery with Robert Byrd directing. The family will receive friends from 4pm-6pm Sunday at the funeral home.

Mr. Peel was born September 5, 1933 in Barbour County, Alabama and lived the early part of his life in Blue Springs, AL. He joined the U.S. Air Force and served in the Vietnam War and was also stationed in Korea. He retired from the military in 1973 following over 20 years of service. Quay was employed with the State of Alabama with Train Tech as an Electrical Instructor. He was a farmer and enjoyed operating heavy equipment and in his spare time loved to go fishing. Quay loved to travel and has seen most of the United States, Canada, and Mexico. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Ashford and First United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife Barbara Ann Peel; a daughter Debra Jean Peel; a step-son Matt Boyd; a grandson James Peel; a son-in-law Ted Coker; sisters, Connie Hartzog and Laura Carter.

Mr. Peel was preceded in death by his first wife Elizabeth Joan Peel, a daughter Barbara Joan Coker, and his parents Lena and Dempsey Bernard Peel.
