Ralph Byram

Ralph E. Byram, a resident of Dothan, passed away on Friday, November 9, 2018 at his residence. He was 71. Memorial Services will be held 3pm Thursday, November 15, 2018 at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Robert Lee officiating. Military honors will follow in Sunset Memorial Park with Robert Byrd directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2pm until 3pm Thursday. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Wiregrass Food Bank, 382 Twitchell Rd., Dothan, AL 36303, or to the Wiregrass Master Gardener's Association. Mr. Byram was born January 29, 1947 in Irondale, Alabama and he lived the early years of his life there. Mr. Byram was a 1965 graduate of Shades Valley High School. He later graduated from Auburn University in 1969 and he was a member of the Army ROTC. Mr. Byram joined the United State Army and served with the Corp of Engineers during his military service. He worked with the Social Security office in Birmingham for twenty years prior to his retirement in 1995 and moved to Dothan in 2000. Mr. Byram was a whitewater raft enthusiast and traveled to rivers throughout the world to test his skills. His favorite river by far was the Colorado River in the Grand Canyon. Mr. Byram was a member of the Master Gardeners Association. Survivors include his wife, Ruth Byram; his sons, Charles (Melinda) Byram and Robert (Jamie Lynn) Byram; his grandchild, Claire Byram; his sister, Judith Graham; his nieces, Lisa Entrekin and Christy Alvis.
