Ralph Edward Engquist

March 3, 1925 — February 15, 2014

Ralph Edward Engquist, 88 of Dothan passed away Saturday February 15, 2014 at his residence.

Funeral services will be 11 am Friday February 21, 2014 at Sunset Funeral Home with Pastor Stephen Russell officiating.  Burial with military honors will follow in Sunset Memorial Park with Robert Byrd directing.  The family will receive friends from 10 am to 11 prior to the service. In liue of flowers memorials may be to Central Baptist, 1812 Honeysuckle Road, Dothan, Alabama 36305.

Mr. Engquist was born March 3, 1925 in Detroit, Michigan and resided there for fifty-seven years. He joined the United States Navy during World War II and served in the South Pacific. Following his military service he was employed with the City of Detroit as an electric lineman for over thirty years. Mr. Engquist moved to Dothan in 1982 and resided here for the past thirty-two years.  He was a member of Central Baptist Church where he installed and then operated the sound equipment for many years.

Survivors include his wife Zora Engquist; two sons, Ralph Edward Engquist, Jr. and John Stephen Engquist; his daughter Helen Joyce Gentile; six grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren; brother-in-law Paul and Dianne Mooradian and sister-in-law Mary Garfield; several nieces and nephews.

The family would like to express their thanks for Alacare Hospice staff including D.J. and Shawn for loving care and support during their time of need.
