Ralph Stinson

March 6, 1925 — March 26, 2013

Ralph L. Stinson, Jr. of Pinckard passed away Tuesday, March 26, 2013 at his residence. He was 88.

Funeral services will be held 2pm Saturday, March 30, 2013 at Pinckard Baptist Church with Rev. Roger Stone officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in Sunset Memorial Park with Robert Byrd directing. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the services.

Mr. Stinson was born on March 6, 1925 in Galesburg, IL, the son of Ralph L. Stinson, Sr. and Margaret L. Pittman Stinson. He graduated from Galesburg High School in 1943 and served in the United States Army Air Corps and Air Force from 1943 until 1947, during World War II. Mr. Stinson married Maxine R. Tufts Wolfgang on March 19, 1946 in Holyoke, MA while they both were serving in the Army Air Corp. He graduated from Knoxville College in 1950 with a degree in Business. Mr. Stinson entered missionary training in 1954 with New Tribes Mission and after training went to Costa Rica and Panama. Mr. Stinson went to work for the Panama Canal Company, in 1961, as a computer systems analyst until his early retirement in 1980. Mr. and Mrs. Stinson made their home in Dothan, Alabama. During his retirement, Mr. Stinson was a generous man and gave much to those in need.

Survivors include his 7 sons, Ralph Stinson, III, Harry Stinson, Mark Stinson, Greig Stinson, Keith Stinson, Manuel Stinson, and David Stinson; his daughter, June Stinson McCandless; 24 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews, and many family friends, including Lillie Young.
