Ralph H. Thomas

Ralph H. Thomas, Jr., 77, a resident of Midland City, AL passed away Wednesday, November 4, 2015 at his residence.

Funeral services will be 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 7, 2015 at the Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Keener Batchelor and Rev. Jason Batchelor officiating. Entombment will follow in Sunset Memorial Park with Robert Byrd directing. The family will receive friends from 1-3:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Flowers are being accepted or memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 3054 McGehee Road, Montgomery, AL, 36111.

Mr. Thomas was born January 2, 1938 in Jacksonville, FL and spent the young part of his life in Tampa, FL. He worked as a plumber and pipefitter for over 40 years at International Paper in Prattville, AL and at Farley Nuclear Plant. He was a longtime member of the United Association of Plumbers & Steamfitters Local Union No. 52. Mr. Thomas enjoyed wearing his overalls, tinkering with his tools, his dog, eating, and spending time with Me-Maw. He was a member of New Life Church in Dothan. He was preceded in death by his two brothers.

Survivors include his wife Esther Thomas; his daughter, Terri Eddie Roberts; his son, Melvin Linda Thomas; 7 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; his sister, Sally Bowles; several nieces and nephews.

Serving as pallbearers will be Aaron Hyatt, Eric Hyatt, Tony Wood, Randy King, Brandon Goff, and Tommy Shiver.
