Ralph William Walding

Ralph William Walding, a resident of Pinckard, passed away on Saturday, September 12, 2009 at his residence. He was 84.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 15, 2009 at the Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Max McKinney officiating. Burial will follow in Pinckard City Cemetery with Robert Byrd directing. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home.Mr. Walding was born on August 1, 1925 in Dale County and lived in Pinckard most of his life. He was in the Merchant Marines during WWII and later owned and operated Walding Jewelry Store in Graceville, FL. Mr. Walding also was employed in Civil Service at Ft. Rucker until his retirement in 1985. He was a Mason and a member of the Mt. Zion Assembly of God Church.Mr. Walding was preceded in death by his parents Mike and Lera Walding and a sister-in-law Christine Walding.Survivors include his wife Valeta Walding of Pinckard; a daughter and son-in-law William and Kay Johnson of Pinckard; grandchildren, Matthew Johnson of Pinckard, Brandon Knowles and his wife Krystal of Pinckard, Kalyn Palmer of Pinckard, Summer Johnson of Pinckard, Daniel Johnson of Pinckard, Samantha Johnson of Headland, Chad Johnson of NAS Jacksonville, FL; a great-granddaughter Charity Knowles; his brother Chester Walding of Pinckard; brothers and sisters-in-law, Mitchell and Jean Parmer, Jerry and Kay Parmer, Jerry and Sue Godwin; a host of nieces and nephews.Serving as active pallbearers will be Daniel Johnson, Matthew Johnson, Brandon Knowles, Jeff Walding, Leon Minor and Mikie Walding. Burial Date: January 1, 1970
