Ray Bradshaw

Ray Bradshaw, a resident of Dothan, AL, passed away on Saturday, December 10, 2022. He was 88 years old.

Funeral services will be held at 2 pm on Thursday, December 15, 2022 in Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bradley Rushing officiating. Entombment will take place in Southern Palm Memorial Gardens in North Myrtle Beach, SC where he will be laid to rest with his loving wife, Shirley. The family will receive friends at Sunset Funeral Home on Thursday from 1-2 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made in Ray's honor to Mt. Gilead Baptist Church, 2864 S. Brannon Stand Rd., Dothan, AL 36305 or to Gentiva Hospice, 2431 W. Main St., #1102, Dothan, AL 36301.

Ray was born on January 12, 1934 in Coffee County, AL to the late Ervin and Lula Mae Bradshaw. God gave him a Born-Again experience at the young age of 15 years old. His family relocated to Enterprise in 1951 and for the next two years, Ray worked with family farming helping them with operations. He would move to Maryland in 1955 where he began a career working the Safeway Stores and meet his future wife, Shirley Whitlock in September, 1956. Ray would be drafted into the US Army and proudly served in South Korea before returning to the United States and marrying his true love in June of 1959. He returned to work with Safeway Stores, working very diligently, to study and train, and eventually became Project Construction Manager. He would retire in 1980 after 25 years with Safeway but continued with other department stores such as Hechinge Company, Eckerd Drug Stores, JCPenney, and Belk before finally retiring in 2011. In January of 2017 he would lose the love of his life, Shirley and returned to Dothan, Alabama. During his working life, Ray was fortunate enough to reside in 16 different cities across 7 states, and one foreign country.

Survivors include his nieces and nephews, Lisa Reeves, Donna Gourly, Todd Bradshaw, Bill Thompson, and John Sullivant; and his sister-in-law, Bettye Bradshaw.
