Ray Gerald Ming, a resident of Dothan, passed away on Thursday, July 30, 2009 at his residence. He was 72.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, August 1, 2009 at St. Columba Catholic Church with Father Tony Pullukattu and Deacon Rick Risher officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park with Robert Byrd directing. A Rosary service will be held Friday, July 31, 2009 at 6:00 pm at Sunset Funeral Home, and the visitation will follow the rosary service. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Columba Catholic Church Capital Campaign Fund, 2700 West Main Street, Dothan, Alabama 36305.Mr. Ming was born on October 8, 1936 in Graceville, Florida and lived the early years there. He was a 1954 graduate of Graceville High School and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy having served for four years. In 1958 he married Peggy Register and they moved to Dothan where he resided most of his life. Mr. Ming was employed with Felts Trailer Company for ten years and later he owned and operated Ray’s Truck and Trailer for fifteen years. Mr. Ming was a real estate agent with United Country Real Estate at the time of this retirement.Mr. Ming was preceded in death by his parents Huey and Ocie Ming and a sister Ruth Schwartz.Survivors include his wife Peggy Ming of Dothan; two sons, Andy Ming and wife Dana of Dothan, Rodney Ming and wife Lynda of Dothan; a daughter, Pam Dean and husband Randy of Ashford; six grandchildren, Katie Rice husband Fred, Joshua Dean wife Kydie, Drew Ming, Hayden Ming, Jessica Ming and Ethan Ming; one great-grandchild, Landen Dean; a brother, R. G. Hardy and wife Marie of Jackson, MS; three sisters, Reba Phelps and husband Lowell of Dothan, Lola Eyles and husband Don of Phoenix City, AL and Ola VanDusen and husband Van of Augusta, GA; several nieces and nephews also survive. Serving as active pallbearers will be his grandsons Joshua Dean, Drew Ming, Ethan Ming and Fred Rice. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be his granddaughters Katie Rice, Hayden Ming, Jessica Ming, and Kydie Dean. Burial Date: January 1, 1970
