Raymond Barnes

December 1, 1943 — February 13, 2016

Raymond Barnes, 72, a resident of Webb, AL passed away Saturday, February 13, 2016 at his residence.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 20, 2016 at the Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Homer Davis officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park with Robert Byrd directing. The family will receive friends from 5-7:00 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.

Mr. Barnes was born December 1, 1943 in Houston County, AL and lived in Webb most of his life. He was the 1962 Salutatorian of Columbia High School. He was employed with Stokes Floor Covering for over 30 years prior to his retirement in 1992. He was a gospel singer and spread the word of God through song while singing with the Sensational Golden Bells for many years. Raymond loved grilling and enjoyed entertaining his family and friends. He was a deacon at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church and was also a member of Most Worshipful Prince Hall Grand Lodge Free & Accepted Masons of Alabama, Fellowship Lodge 439.

Survivors include his wife Betty Barnes; sons, Raymond Barnes, Rex Barnes, Rickey Barnes, Kenneth Daniels, and Marcus Minnifield; daughters, Crystal Williams, Retha Barnes, Stephanie Durham, and Reva Barnes; 27 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren; sisters, Gladys Key, Grace Bryant, Mattie Freeman, and Ann Robinson; several in-laws and a host of nieces and nephews.
