Raymond Duncan Smith, Sr., a resident of Ashford, AL went to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, March 6, 2019 at his residence. He was 82 years old. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 9, 2018 at Ridgecrest Baptist Church with Rev. Tim Willis officiating. Burial will follow in Ashford City Cemetery with Robert Byrd directing. The family will receive friends from 1-2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers please make donations to Kindred Hospice. Mr. Smith was born January 13, 1937 in Douglas, Georgia and he resided in Plant City, Florida the early years of his life. He joined the U.S. Navy veteran and served on the USS Currituck. He was employed with Williams Lincoln Mercury in the paint and body shop until his retirement in 1997. Mr. Smith was a member of the Ridgecrest Baptist Church and the Bojangles Men's Group. Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Ethel Smith; his children, Cammy (Alan) Mixon and Raymond Duncan Smith, Jr.; grandchildren, Brittney Crane, Nathan and Abigail Mixon; great-grandchildren, Sadi and Wesley Crane; sisters, Lorene Horn and Royce Smith both from Florida; host of nieces and nephews.
