Reba Montgomery

February 19, 1948 — December 15, 2024

Reba "Gardee" Montgomery, a beacon of kindness and love, peacefully passed away at her home with her daughter by her side in Dothan, Alabama on December 15, 2024. Born on February 19, 1948, in Slocomb, Alabama, she lived a life that was a testament to her faith-filled heart and nurturing spirit. Her journey on earth may have ended, but her legacy of warmth and generosity continues to thrive in the hearts of those she touched.

Gardee was the cherished daughter of Roy and Clara Martin White and grew up surrounded by the love of her siblings, Robert White, Roy White, Roosevelt White, and Julia Kite. She attended Geneva County High School, where she formed lifelong friendships and developed a strong sense of community. Her dedication to family was paramount, and she took great pride in her role as a stay-at-home mom, raising her children, Dawanna and Bobby, and later, caring for two of her special granddaughters, Brijhana and Jasmine.

Her home was a hub of comfort and joy, filled with the aromas of her excellent cooking. Gardee's salmon croquettes and other comfort foods were family favorites that will be deeply missed, along with her incredible sewing skills. Whether making pillows for her grandchildren or mending their cherished stuffed animals, she did it all with love and care.

Gardee found great joy in hosting tea parties with her granddaughters, creating memories that will be treasured forever. Her love for being at home was a reflection of her content and peaceful nature. She was truly a sweetheart, always giving of herself and putting her family first. Gardee's love extended beyond her immediate family to her many wonderful grandchildren, loving great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, friends, and family who knew they could always count on her warmth and support.

Her faith was a cornerstone of her life, and she was a devoted attendee of Parks Chapel AME Church in Dothan. Her kind and loving nature was evident to all who knew her, and she will be remembered as a woman of great faith who lived her beliefs through her actions.

Gardee was preceded in death by her loving husband, Arthur "Chef" Montgomery, and her parents, Roy and Clara Martin White, as well as her siblings Robert, Roy, Roosevelt, and Julia. She leaves behind a legacy of love through her daughter, Dawanna Lakecia (Harold, Jr.) Boyd; her son, Bobby (Lavania) White; her two special granddaughters, Brijhana and Jasmine, and many other wonderful grandchildren, and many loving great-grandchildren.

A celebration of Gardee's life will be held at 1 pm on Friday, December 20, 2024, at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel, with Pastor Flowers officiating.

Reba "Gardee" Montgomery will be forever celebrated as a loving, kind, and faith-filled soul who enriched the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her story does not end with her passing but lives on through the countless lives she touched with her gentle spirit and caring heart.
