Relda Kelly Robison, 61, of Dothan passed away Tuesday April 23, 2013 at her residence. Relda was born in Dothan to the late H.D. Joe and Mary Frances Kelly on December 19, 1951, she was predeceased by husbands, Robert Griffin Robison and Horace Randall Randy Pitchford.
She is survived by her sister, Brenda Kelly Pitchford and husband, Terry of Columbia, two special nephews, David Val Pitchford, Headland and John Joy Pitchford, Tumbleton, AL, and five great-nieces, nephews, Camille, Thomas, William, J. T. and Anna Pitchford.
Relda was raised in Columbia and was a 1970 graduate of Houston Co. High School. She also graduated from Wallace Community College with an associate’s degree in nursing in 1973 and completed her certification for neonatal nursing in 1985. Relda was employed with the Henry County Hospital for 3 years in the 1970’s and with Southeast Alabama Medical Center for 19 years. The last 15 years, she served as a Director of the Nursery and NICU. In 1995, she also became director of the OB/Women’s Unit. Relda retired in 2001 due to a medical disability.
She was a member of the Chattahoochee Jewels and a former member of the American Nurses Association and First Baptist Church, Columbia.
Relda is also survived by two special friends and caregivers, Annette Baker and Alphonso “Funny” Wilson.
A celebration of life will be held at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home on 3 pm Saturday, April 27, 2013. All friends are invited. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Gentiva Hospice, 2470 Headland Ave., Dothan, AL 36303, or the Wiregrass Food Bank, 382 Twitchell Road, Dothan, AL 36303.
