Rex Mitchell Murkerson

Rex Mitchell Murkerson, 51, of Dothan, passed away Tuesday, December 2, 2013 at a local hospital.

Funeral services will be 10 am Wednesday December 4, 2013 at Sunset Funeral Home with Rev. Rick Glenn officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 9-10 am prior to the services at the funeral home. Flowers are being accepted or memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 840692, Dallas, TX, 75284.

Mr. Murkerson was born January 14, 1962 in Dothan and lived his entire life in the Wiregrass Area including Ashford and Ozark. He was employed with Sony for over fifteen years as a warehouseman. Mr. Murkerson enjoyed fishing and photography and he was a member of Memphis Baptist Church.

Mr. Murkerson was preceded in death by his father, Ludon Murkerson; his grandparents, Ernest and Lilly Mae Murkerson, and Luna and Mamie Swords.

Survivors include his wife Donna Murkerson; two sons, Mitchell Murkerson Alyse and Steven Murkerson Kristen; one grandson Kaeden Murkerson; his mother Margie Murkerson; two sisters Gail Christiansen Mike and Kim Garrett Marty all of Dothan; and several nieces and nephews.

Serving as pallbearers will be Dennis McGowan, Blake Johnson, Ray Odom, Wallace Odom, Christopher Daughtry and Ron Durham.
