Rhoda K. Johnson, 37, a resident of Tallahassee, FL passed away on Sunday, June 12, 2011 at her residence.
rnFuneral services will be held 2 pm Saturday, June 18, 2011 at Sunset Funeral Home with Pastor Eric Bates and Pastor DeJuan Knight officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm on Friday at the funeral home. rnMs. Johnson was born November 22, 1973 in St. Petersburg, FL and lived there the early part of her life. She was a graduate of Largo High School in 1991 cum laude, was on the Dean’s List, served as President of her class, and was a member of the Who’s Who. She was a magna cum laude graduate of Oakwood University in 1996 and later worked as the associate editor with the Message Magazine/Review and Herald. Ms. Johnson studied at the Oxford School of Law in London, England and attended Florida State University College of Law where she received her Juris Doctor degree. At the time of her death she was employed with the State of Florida as a Senior Attorney in Tallahassee. She is a member of Mt. Olive Seventh Day Adventist Church in Dothan. rnMs. Johnson was preceded in death by her father Robert Johnson, Sr., and her grandparents. rnrnSurvivors include her parents, Lillie Mae and Dr. Gaynel Taylor of Dothan; brothers, Robert Johnson, Jr. and his wife Felitta of Dothan, and Gaynard Barron Taylor of Dothan; her paternal grandmother Mae Lois Johnson; Great-Aunts, Ollie Chapman, Retha Watkins, Inez Josie, and Lillie Mae Obdiah James, ; Aunts & Uncles, Lenora, Mamie, Cynthia, Helen, Norma, Brenda, Linda, Laverne, Sarah, Eleanor, Winnie, Edith, Cynthia Dr. Joseph Warren, Mary Lou, Jo Francis, Coletta Willie Burroughs, James Johnson, Johnny Johnson, Bill Sheila Johnson, Jeff Johnson, Clinton Taylor, Freddie Taylor, Robert Rose Wilder, and Charles Warren; nephews, Austin Colburn and Kaden Ford; a host of cousins, colleagues, extended family, and close friends.
