Rhonda Jean Shehee

September 9, 1970 — August 26, 2021

Rhonda Jean Shehee, a resident of Pansey, passed away on Thursday, August 26, 2021 at a local hospital. She was 50 years old.

A celebration of her life will be held at 3 pm on Sunday, September 5, 2021 at Antioch Baptist Church with Rev. Greg Aman officiating. The family will receive friends at Sunset Funeral Home on Sunday from 1-2:30 pm. Flowers are being accepted or memorial donations may be made to the Wiregrass Horse Rescue and Sanctuary, www.wiregrasshorserescuesanctuary.org.

Rhonda was born on September 9, 1970 in Dade City, Florida and moved to Cowarts at an early age. She was a 1988 graduate of Louisville High School. Rhonda joined the Dothan Fire Department in 1997 and when she retired in 2019, she had attained the rank of Captain. She served in the Alabama National Guard and was a CW4 when she retired in 2016. She served in Desert Storm, Desert Shield, and Iraqi Freedom. Rhonda had a passion for horses. She loved working with and training horses and especially enjoyed sharing her passion with kids, teaching them to ride and show western pleasure. She would serve on the board for Dothan Boots and Saddle Club, Wiregrass Open Horseman Association, and the Board of Directors for AOHA. Rhonda was a member of Antioch Baptist Church.

Rhonda was preceded in death by her parents, Ronald Oliver, Sr. and Kathryn Lowery Knowles.

Survivors include her husband, Mark Shehee; her son, Cody (Ariel) Brown; her granddaughter, Elizabeth Brown; her brother, Max (Valerie) Oliver; her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Fred and Tena Shehee; her sister-in-law and brothers-in-law, Kelly (Kayron) Shehee and John Shehee; her special friends, Stacy Gibson, Kim Vann, and Kelly Faulkner; her nieces and nephews, Rachel Oliver Carroll, Mitch Oliver, Whit Shehee, and Cole Shehee; and numerous cousins.
