Rickey J. Corbitt

Rickey J. Corbitt, 51, passed away at 2:11 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 20, 2013, at his residence.

He was born Oct. 23, 1961, in Enterprise, Ala., the son of Preston and Mary Faulk Corbitt. He married Denise Knight on Dec. 22, 1984, in Midland City, Ala. Rickey was employed as the safety manager at the U.S. Penitentiary in Marion. He was a member of St. Mark African Methodist Episcopal Church in Daleville, Ala.

Survivors include his wife, Denise of Marion; sons, Rickey Corbitt II of Rochester, Minn., Preston Corbitt of Scofield Barracks, Hawaii, and Payton Corbitt of Jonesboro, Ark.; mother, Mary Martin of Daleville; brother, Corey Martin of Daleville; sister, Shelia Anderson of Okinawa, Japan; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, brother and stepfather.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 25, 2013, in Sunset Memorial Park Funeral Home in Midland City. Interment will follow in St. Mark A.M.E. Church Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 24, 2013, at the funeral home.
