Robbie Elmore Brown

Robbie Elmore Brown, a resident of Dothan, passed away on Sunday, September 23, 2018. She was 99 and 11 months old! Funeral services will be held at 2 pm on Thursday, September 27, 2018 in Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Robert Byrd directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 1-2 pm. A private burial for family and Pansey friends will follow in Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery. Flowers are being accepted or memorial contributions can be made to your favorite charity. Mrs. Brown was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Brown, her parents, Robert (Bob) and Leola Elmore, her five sisters, Essie Elmore, Era Allman, Bessie McArthur, Hazel Hilyer, and Lajean Mitz Jacobs, and by her brother Henton Elmore. Robbie worked many years as a telephone operator and supervisor in Florida and retired in Dothan in 1982. Playing bridge, setting a fine table, celebrating, watching Auburn Football, shopping, and visiting with friends and family were her passions. She was a devout member of Dothan First Baptist Church and the Faulkner Sunday School Class. Robbie lived at Somerset Assisted Living Facility for 3 ½ years and at Extendicare Health Center for 2 months. Her family is deeply appreciative for the love and compassion shown to her at both facilities. Although Robbie had no children, she was blessed with several nieces and nephews, their spouses, children, and grandchildren, all of whom adored her. Their Aunt Robbie was their "Fun-Time Aunt". Her living nieces and nephews are as follows: Sandra Belcher, Robert "Bobby" C. (Debra) Elmore, Teresa C. Elmore, Willis "Bill" O. (Darlene) Hilyer, David Hilyer, Reid Knight, Rebecca McArthur Lee, Charles (Priscilla) McArthur, Mary Jane McArthur, Christina E. (Jim) McCall, Charlotte (Mac) MacIntosh, Paul (Maria) Mitz, Pamela Rotshtein, and Deborah (Milton) Woodfin.
