Robert Foy Carmichael

Robert Foy Carmichael, Jr., 75, of Dothan passed away Sunday, March 23, 2014 at his residence.

Funeral services with military honors will be 11 am Wednesday, March 26, 2014 at Sunset Funeral Home with Rev. Don Clark officiating and Robert Byrd directing. The family will receive friends from 10-11 am prior to the service at the funeral home.

Mr. Carmichael was born March 27, 1938 in Washington, D.C. and spent the early part of his life there. He married Catherine Rose Morrison in Virginia on June 28, 1958 and was employed there as a grocery manager for several years. He relocated to Dothan in 1970 and was affiliated with several businesses here primarily as owner/operator of Carmichael Services, a general contracting company. He loved gardening and planting in his yard fondly remembered as Bob-A-Way Gardens. Mr. Carmichael was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Foy Carmichael, Sr. and Ruth Ann Strickland Carmichael and his sons, Danny Carmichael and David Carmichael.

Survivors include his wife Catherine Rose Carmichael; daughters, Debbie Jim Norris, and Dawn Patrick Clark; grandchildren, Charles Benjamin Robbins, Danielle Elizabeth Hogan Brad Williams, Robert Tanner Lauren Carmichael, James Hunter Robin Norris, Christopher Ryan Whitney Carmichael, Lauren Taylor Cedric Wymes, Payton Victoria Hogan Ethan Davis, Daniel Kace Carmichael, and Samuel Rudolph Camille Norris; a great-grandchild Isaiah Wymes; sisters, Joan Carr and Patricia Gary Greene; several nieces and nephews; special friends and family members, Tommy Hogan, Stephanie Turner and John Tyson.
