Robert Earl Jones

Robert Earl Jones, a resident of Dothan passed away on Thursday, December 13, 2018 at Flowers Hospital. He was 71 years old. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 16, 2018 at the Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jerry Glover and Dr. Harvey Luke officiating. Burial will follow in the Winslette Chapel Church cemetery with Robert Byrd directing. The family will receive friends from 12-2:00 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home. Flowers are being accepted or memorial donations may be made to Winslette Chapel Church. Mr. Jones was born December 20, 1946 and was raised in the Poplar Springs Community of Holmes County, FL. He graduated from Poplar Springs High School and was employed with Hedstrom and later with Michelin for 23 years until his retirement in 2008. He enjoyed playing his guitar, writing music, and sharing his love of music at Westside Terrace, Dorothy Quick Senior Center, and Somerset Assisted Living. He loved the outdoors, especially fishing with his family and friends. He was a member of Winslette Chapel Church in Newton. Survivors include his loving wife of 47 years, June Jones; son, Kris (Marcia) Jones; daughter, Marie (Steve) Jones-Hallford; grandchildren, Kevin Offutt, Jacob Offutt, Ellen Garcia, Jose Garcia, Jessie Hallford, Steve Hallford, and Roger Henderson; several nieces and nephews.
