Robert "Bob" Hilarides, a resident of Dothan, passed away at his residence on Friday, April 12, 2019. He was 64. Funeral services will be held at 2 pm on Saturday, April 20, 2019 in Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Bob Sanders officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow in Sunset Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 1-2 pm. Mr. Hilarides was born on May 25, 1954 in West Palm Beach, Florida and lived the early years of his life in Lake Worth, Florida. He joined the US Army following high school and served for over 29 years. Mr. Hilarides was a maintenance officer, Army Ranger, and helicopter and fixed-wing pilot. He later worked with FlightSafety as a Flight Instructor for 14 years. His passion was flying. He has flown most every aircraft that the Army has to offer. Mr. Hilarides resided in Enterprise until moving to Dothan in 2011. He loved and served his country and was very patriotic. Mr. Hilarides was very family oriented; they were the center of his universe. They enjoyed outings together in the RV and sailing with him on his McGregor Sailboat. Survivors include his wife, Elly Ahn Hilarides; his daughters, June Soobin Hilarides, Rachel Marilyn Hilarides, and Daphne Hilarides-Diaz. Burial Date April 20, 2019 Funeral services will be held at 2 pm on Saturday, April 20, 2019 in Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Bob Sanders officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow in Sunset Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 1-2 pm.
