Robert J. Lancaster, of Dothan died Jan. 6, 2011 at Westside Terrace. He was 86.
Funeral services will be held 2 pm Monday, Jan 10, 2011 at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Tim Willis officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in Sunset Memorial Park with Robert Byrd directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday afternoon from 3 to 5 pm.Mr. Lancaster was born Sept. 12, 1924 in Mentone, Indiana and he lived the early years of his life there until moving to Colorado in 1936. Mr. Lancaster joined the United States Army and was a veteran of World War II, the Korean and Vietnam Wars and served twenty-three years prior to his retirement in 1966. He later was employed with civil service at Fort Rucker for ten years and he also owned and operated Northside Food Store from 1978 to 1982. Mr. Lancaster was a member of Ridgecrest Baptist Church.Mr. Lancaster was preceded in death by his grandson, Luke Lancaster. Survivors include his wife Warnette Lancaster of Dothan; his son, Mike Lancaster and his wife, Diane, Dothan; his daughter, Debbie Allen and her husband, Bob, Honolulu, Hawaii, six grandchildren, Terry Allen and his wife, Ana, Ashley Conner and her husband, Vaimana, Sean Allen and his wife, Marisa, Kimberly Jones and her husband, DeWayne, Melissa McGill and John McGill; five great-grandchildren, Hunter Jones and Alexis Jones, Nalani Allen, Caleb Allen and Leela Conner; his sister, Nancy Lamson; several nieces and nephews.Serving as active pallbearers will be Steve Marchman, Mike Roney, Larry Besecker, David Besecker, Ronnie Lawrence, Dave Nibbs, John Wayne Ryles and Bear.
