Robert John Lebaron

November 17, 1945 — October 25, 2014

Robert John "Bob" LeBaron, 68, a resident of Columbia, AL passed away Saturday, October 25, 2014 at a local hospital.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, October 30, 2014 at the Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Henry Hughes officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park with Robert Byrd directing. The family will receive friends from 1-2:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Salvation Army, or Leukemia and Lymphoma Society at www.lls.org

Mr. LeBaron was born November 17, 1945 in Hyattsville, MD and graduated in 1964 from Goodrich Senior High School in Fond du Lac, WI. He joined the U.S. Navy and served from 1964-1972 aboard the USS Thomas Jefferson based in Charleston, NY, the USS Casmir Pulaski based in Groton, CT, and the USS Henry Clay based in Norfolk, VA. He moved to Columbia, AL in 1974 and was employed with Farley Nuclear Plant as a Nuclear Power Control Operator until his retirement in 2004. Bob loved living in the South and was known for saying "I wasn't born in the South, but I got here as soon as I could." He was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church where he helped build the new sanctuary. He was preceded in death by his parents John S. LeBaron and Cecille M. Higbee LeBaron and his step-mother Frances L. Hudson LeBaron.

Survivors include his sister, Linda LeBaron, and a special friend, Tara Dvork.
