Ronald Dean Davis, Jr., 29, of Headland died Wednesday, June 29, 2011 at UAB Hospital.

rnFuneral services will be held 2 pm Sunday, July 3, 2011 at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Larry Elliott officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park with Robert Byrd directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday from 6 pm until 8 pm. rnRonnie was born November 20, 1981 in Houston County and he resided in Headland most of his life. He was a 2000 graduate of Dale County High School. Ronnie has been mud racing since 1991, and won his first race at the age of 10 at the Panhandle Truck and Tractor in Bonifay, FL. Ronnie was known in the mud racing circuit of Alabama, Georgia, Florida, and Mississippi as the “Dixie Thumper.” Ronnie was a Volunteer Fireman with the Midland City Fire Department. He was employed with Advance Auto Parts on Montgomery Highway for the past thirteen years until his recent illness. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, James Barefield, Donald Davis, and Marjorie Hartgrove Davis. rnSurvivors include his parents, Ronald, Sr. and Beulah Davis of Headland; a daughter Keisha Glover of Headland; sisters, Sandy Gaier Chip of Echo, AL and Susan Knight of Dothan; his grandmother Mae Barefield of Headland; nieces and nephews, Jeana Breuer John, Tonya Spivey, T.J. Spivey, and Toby Spivey; several Aunts and Uncles including Danny Hartgrove of Ewell, AL and Tony Davis Betty. rnServing as active pallbearers will be Danny MacAloney, Donnie Green, Matthew Rowler, Raymond Childress, Leroy Whitehead, and Josh Childress. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Chris Lamb and the Midland City Volunteer Fire Department. Burial Date: January 1, 1970
