Mrs. Shirley was born on July 24, 1954 in Montgomery, Alabama and lived there the early years of her life. She attended Robert E. Lee High School and married the love of her life in 1972, Tommy Shirley. She moved to Dothan in 1980 and was employed with the Cottonwood Police Department for a while. Mrs. Shirley served as an auxiliary officer and would later be employed with the Houston County Sheriff's Office until her retirement in 2016. She enjoyed working in her yard and was passionate about keeping it extra clean, some say she was a little OCD about it. One of her most enjoyable things to do was spending time with her grandchildren, they were her world. Mrs. Shirley was preceded in death by her brother, Tim Latham. Survivors include her husband, Tommy Shirley; her son, Scott (Hannah) Shirley; her daughter, Deana Craft; her 3 grandchildren, Colton Craft, Marshal Craft, and Corbin Ross Shirley; her brothers, David (Pam) Latham and Aubrey (Patricia) Latham; her sister, Wanda (Gary) Bice; several nieces and nephews. A celebration of her life will be held at 11 am on Saturday, December 28, 2019 in Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mike Griggs officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 10-11 am.
