Rosie Johnson

Rosie Johnson, 89, passed away at her Dothan residence, Saturday, September 14, 2013.

Funeral services will be held at 2pm on Thursday, September 19, 2013 at the First Baptist Church of Woodstock, AL with Rev. Larry Bonner and Rev. Ben Corley officiating with Ronnie Acker assisting. Burial will follow in the Greenpond Presbyterian Cemetery with Robert Byrd directing.  The family will receive friends at the church from 1-2pm.

Mrs. Johnson was born on October 21, 1923 in White City, AL Autauga County and had resided in the Woodstock area for over 60 years. She was the first licensed cosmetologist in North Bibb County and was the owner/beautician of “Rosie’s Beauty Shop” Woodstock until her retirement at the age of 84 in 2007. She was a member of The First Baptist Church of Woodstock where she was a member of the “Ruth” Sunday School Class.

Mrs. Johnson was preceded in death by her parents Rev. W.W. and Ida Fletcher Cranmore, her husband Floyd Johnson, five brothers William, Robert, Henry, David and Franklin, a sister Brownie Williams and a grandson, Paul Ferguson.

Survivors include her daughters, Etoy Dave Einfeldt, Greenpond, Naomi Truman Ferguson Dothan and Carol Mark Skipper, Dothan; her son Glenn Delane Johnson, West Blocton; her fourteen grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, sisters Ruby Fikes, Greenpond, Lucy Duncan and brother, Vernon Florence both of Selma, sister-in-laws Lois Acker, McCalla, Sarah Johnson, Laurel MS, Carlotta Johnson, Hueytown and numerous loving nieces and nephews. “Granny”, as she was affectionately called by her grandchildren, will be greatly missed by her family, friends, and community.
