Russell William King

Russell William King, a resident of Dothan passed away on Friday, July 17, 2009 at his residence after an extended illness. He was 57.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 19, 2009 at the Sunset Funeral Home Chapel. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Sunset Memorial Park with Robert Byrd directing. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home. At all other times the family will be at 814 Mandarin Ave., Dothan, AL.Mr. King was born on July 13, 1952 in Peoria, IL and lived the early years of his life there. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served 3 tours in Vietnam. He was stationed at Ft. Rucker for several years and was discharged in 1988. He was an avid fisherman and a lifetime member of the D.A.V. Chapter 87.Survivors include his wife Lucy Jerkins King of Dothan; his sons, Chris Jerkins and his wife Shanda of Cowarts, James Jerkins and his wife Samantha of Dothan; 4 grandchildren, Austin Newman-Levy, Dylan Jerkins, Corey Jerkins, Emma Jerkins; sisters, Bonnie Martin and her husband Lavern of Illinois, Venessa Williamson and her husband Gill of Illinois; several nieces and nephews.The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Covenant Hospice as well as Dr. Day, Coby, Dr. Mayor, Dr. Patel and Brian. Burial Date: January 1, 1970
