Ruth H. Smith

Ruth H. Smith of Dothan, Alabama passed away on Friday, January 20, 2017 at Flowers Hospital. She was 94.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 27, 2017 at 11 am in Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Donna Sue Roberts officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10-11 am prior to the service.

Ruth was born in Malvern, Alabama on February 9, 1922 and lived in Slocomb the early years of her life. She was a graduate of Slocomb High School. Mrs. Smith was a talented musician who loved life, her family, her friends and fishing on Lake Seminole. Mrs. Smith moved to Dothan and resided here most of her life. Mrs. Smith was a member of Reynolds Chapel United Methodist Church.

Mrs. Smith was predeceased by her husband, J.O. Smith; her son and daughter-in-law, Dan and Vickey Smith; her brother, Jimmy Hinson; her sisters, Marcelle Kendall, Hazel Gouge and Martha Ann Brown; and her grandsons, Tim and Todd Smith.

She is survived by her son, Jim (Nancy) Smith; her grandchildren, Troy (Barbara) Smith, Julie Smith and Christopher Smith; her grand daughter-in-law, Lori Smith; 9 great-grandchildren; her sister, Mildred Corbitt; and several nieces and nephews.
