Sally Mae Danzy

Sally Mae Danzy, 74, of Columbia passed away Thursday September 18, 2014 at her residence.

Funeral Services will be 11 am Wednesday September 24, 2014 at Sunset Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Cedar Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, Abbeville, Alabama with Robert Byrd directing.

She was born on May 31, 1940 to the late Millard and Ossie Danzey in Henry County, Alabama. She was preceded in death by her parents, five brothers Frank, Columbus Earl, Herman, Harry K. and Jeremiah Danzey, and one sister Robbie Lee Johnson.

After graduating from Newville Rosenwald High School, Sally moved to Wilmington, Delaware, later to Newark, New Jersey, and then finally to Syracuse, New York where she retired from Lockheed Martin Company, before that she was employed by General Electric Company. Her position was in Human Resource where she helped meet the needs of employees who worked for the company in different places of the world!

After retirement Sally moved back to Alabama to help care for her ailing mother. She was great in helping others in need and sharing with others. In other words, Sally had a big heart for helping! For several years she was a caregiver for two of her brothers.

Sally leaves to cherish her memory one brother, Ivie Danzey Annie of Haleburg, AL; three sisters, Ruby Lee Tharpe of Dothan, AL, Mary Alene Danzey of Haleburg, AL, and Martha Maelene Johnson of Syracuse, NY; a host of nieces, nephews, additional relatives, and friends.
