Sally Lummus

Mrs. Sally Kate Harrell Lummus, 68, a resident of Dothan died on Saturday, December 27, 2008 at her home following a long battle with ovarian cancer.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, December 30, 2008 at First United Methodist Church with Dr. Jerry Dooling and Dr. Jim Sanders officiating.  Interment will follow in Bluff Springs Baptist Church cemetery with Robert Byrd directing.  The family will receive friends from 1-2:30 prior to the service at the church.  At all other times the family will be at the home of Lee and Julia Kent, 178 Centre Dr., Dothan.  In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to UAB Cancer Research, UAB Comprehensive Cancer Center Office of Development & Community Relations, WTI-1530 3rd Avenue South Birmingham, AL 35294 or Covenant Hospice, 2855 Ross Clark Cir., Dothan, AL, 36301.

Mrs. Lummus was born on June 25, 1940 in Campbellton, FL and graduated from Campbellton High School and Chipola College.  She has resided in Dothan for the past several years and was involved in several civic organizations.  She was a member of First United Methodist Church.  Prior to her medical retirement she was employed with Lowe’s of Dothan.

Mrs. Lummus was preceded in death by her parents Mr. Harvey Harrell and Mrs. Othell Brackin Harrell.

Survivors included her daughter and son-in-law Julia Lummus Kent and her husband Lee of Dothan; grandchildren, Audrey and Blake Kent of Dothan; five sisters and a brother, Norma Davis and her husband Leon of Pelham, GA, Omi Sasser and her husband Ralph of Nakina, NC, Betty Longgrear of Panama City, FL, Madelyn Lawrence and her husband Jimmy of Dothan, Harvey Harrell and his wife Jan of Campbellton, FL, Cynthia Hicks and her husband Ronnie of Atlanta, GA; several nieces and nephews.

Serving as active pallbearers will be Chris Harrell, Scott Harrell, Jason Hicks, Joe Montgomery, Scott Wallace and Johnathan Seifried.
