Sandra Jean Humburg

June 11, 1958 — August 11, 2024

Sandra Jean Herman-Humburg, a beacon of love and faith, earned her wings on August 11, 2024, at the age of 66, in Dothan, Alabama. Sandra, a cherished mother, Nana, sister, aunt, and friend, was born on June 11, 1958, in Racine, Wisconsin, and grew into a woman whose kindness and loving nature left a lasting impact on everyone she met.

Sandra's journey through life was marked by her devotion to her family, her faith, and her community. As the heart of her family, she is survived by her loving daughters, Andrea (Travis) Long, of Dothan, AL, who also was her next door neighbor, and Rhonda Humburg, of Ozark, AL; her adoring sisters, Jeanine (Bob) Trezona, of Taylor, MI, and Sharon (Terry) Whittington, of Ariton, AL; her caring brothers, Kenneth Herman, of Tomahawk, WI, and Wesley (Rachel) Herman, of Hazard, KY; her treasured grandson, Justin Nilles; her beloved granddaughters, Kaitlyn Nilles (Hunter Tyler), Lauren Winkler, Cesalie Long, Athena Long, and one more who was enveloped in her love; and her precious great-granddaughter, Ellie Rosalynn Tyler. Sandra's life was also enriched by the companionship of her best friend, Dawn (Sunshine) Johnson. She was preceded in death by her loving mother, Carol J. Herman; her brother, Arthur Herman Jr.; and her sister, Joanne Herman.

Sandra's life was a testament to her resilience and adaptability as she embraced the role of a military spouse for 27 years to Chris Humburg, a devoted friend and father to their children, grandchildren, and great grandchild. This calling allowed her to travel the world, experience diverse cultures, and forge friendships that spanned the globe. Her roots, however, remained deep in Alabama, where she spent over 40 years building a community and a life filled with joy and service. Her favorite part of Dothan was getting to visit with Rhonda and live next door to Andrea and Travis and her grandchildren and sharing her home with her grandson, Justin.

A devout Christian, Sandra found solace and strength in her faith. She was a dedicated member of the First United Methodist Church in Dothan, where she nurtured her spiritual life and served her community with grace. Sandra's commitment to her faith was evident in every aspect of her life, guiding her actions and her interactions with those around her.

Sandra's zest for life was contagious, and her interests were as varied as they were numerous. She was a devoted mother first and foremost, always placing the needs of her children and grandchildren above her own. Her love for crafts created a treasure trove of memories for her grandchildren and nieces and nephews, with whom she shared her passion and creativity. Sandra's love for family photos and word searches was a quiet reflection of her love for puzzles and the simple joys in life.

To describe Sandra as loving, faith-filled, and kind is to capture only a glimpse of the woman she was. Her enduring legacy is one of love, a testament to the lives she touched and the hearts she warmed. Sandra's presence was a gift to all who knew her, and her memory will continue to be a guiding light for her family and friends.

Sandra's life was a beautiful mosaic of love, faith, and service, and her passing leaves a void that can never be filled. Yet, her spirit lives on in the hearts of those she loved and who loved her in return. Her legacy is one of unwavering love and an abiding faith that will continue to inspire for generations to come.
