Sara Beasley Holland

Sara Beasley Holland, affectionately known as Sara, passed away peacefully on September 7, 2024, after a prolonged illness. She was surrounded by the love of her family in her hometown of Dothan, Alabama, where she was also born on July 28, 1937. Sara's life was a testament to her unshakeable faith, her deep love for her family, and her joyous spirit.

Sara's journey began in Dothan, where she was a beacon of light throughout her 87 years. She shared 68 beautiful years of marriage with her beloved husband, Carthel "Dutch" Holland. Together, they raised two sons, Bill (Cindy) Holland and Robert David “Bob” (Sherry) Holland, who inherited their mother's strong values and compassionate heart. Sara's legacy extended to her five grandchildren, Sara Elizabeth (Justin) Cobb, Caleb Holland, Hannah Rebekah (Levi) Tharp, Christy (Vance) Glass, and Kendra (Dwayne) Stewart; her great-grandchildren, Chad (Kalie) Glass, Gabriella Cobb, KayLee Cobb, Colton Cobb, Walker Tharp, Silas Tharp, Anna Stewart (Riley) Pate, Garrison Stewart, and Jessica Glass; and her great-great-grandchildren, Hunter Glass and Paisley Grace Tate; her beloved sister-in-law, Mona Sasser, whom she cherished and affectionately called her sister; and by her two nieces, Cheryl Ann (Joe) Anthony and Lynn (Tommy) Melton. She was preceded in death by her great-grandchild, Isabella Cobb, by her sister, Mary Jim Cain, and by her nephew, Lewis Cain.

Sara devoted 27 years of her career to the Accounting Department at Ft. Rucker, where her diligence and integrity were well-respected. Her entrepreneurial spirit shone as she worked part-time at the Harley Davidson of Dothan Motorcycles Dealership, contributing significantly to the founding of Harley Davidson of Dothan with her husband. Sara's work ethic and community involvement were as steadfast as her commitment to her family.

A woman of unwavering faith, Sara loved God deeply and was a faithful member of Harvest Church. She instilled the same devotion in her sons, ensuring they grew up as faithful Christians. Her loving nature permeated every aspect of her life, from her joy in singing to her involvement in Harvest Church's Small Group. Sara was also a lifelong member of Harley Owner’s Group, and her adventurous spirit often found her riding motorcycles with Dutch, sharing in the freedom of the open road.

Sara's interests painted the picture of a life rich with passion and enjoyment. She found pleasure in simple delights like shopping, manicures, and getting her hair done which were her little acts of self-care. Her love for reading was matched only by the joy she found by being with her family.

Her family and friends will forever remember Sara as a loving, faith-filled, and thoughtful soul. She had the unique ability to make each person feel cherished and important. As Helen Keller once said, "The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched - they must be felt with the heart." Sara lived by this philosophy, touching the hearts of all who knew her with her kindness and warmth.

A celebration of Sara's life will be held at 4 pm on Monday, September 9, 2024, at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Larry Anderson officiating. Sara will be laid to rest in Sunset Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 2-4 pm. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Jo Ann Lee, Alex Butler, and Donna Stolte for their loving care and support during Sara's final days. 

Sara Beasley Holland's life was a beautiful tapestry of devotion, joy, and love. Her memory will continue to inspire and guide those she left behind, as her spirit remains a cherished and everlasting presence in the lives of her family and friends.
