Sarah Vassie Lee Donald

Sarah Vassie Lee Donald, a resident of Dothan passed away on Saturday, May 2, 2009 at her residence. She was 96.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 9, 2009 at Parks Chapel A.M.E. Church with the Rev. Oliver Allen officiating. Burial will follow in Gates of Heaven cemetery with Robert Byrd directing.rnMs. Donald was born on May 4, 1912 in Geneva County and lived there the early part of her life. She resided in Enterprise for several years prior to moving to Dothan. She was employed with the State of New York with the Graham School for Children in Hastings on Hudson New York, until her retirement in 1973. She has resided in Dothan for the past 36 years. Ms. Donald was a lifetime member of the Parks Chapel A.M.E. Church in which she was active with the Women’s Missionary Society. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.rnSurvivors include her daughter Martha Hill of Dothan; 8 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; a sister Lealor McGuire of Enterprise.
