Scott Hill

December 20, 1965 — August 1, 2016

Thomas Scott Hill, 50, a resident of Dothan, Alabama unexpectedly passed away Monday August 1, 2016 at a local hospital.

A memorial service will be held 11 am Friday August 5, 2016 at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Kyle Gatlin officiating and Robert Byrd directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10 am – 11 am Friday.

Scott was born on December 20, 1965 in Tupelo, Mississippi and lived the early part of his life there. He graduated from Tupelo High School in 1984 and Mississippi State University in 1989. He was employed with the Boy Scouts of America for 24 years, most recently as an executive with the Alabama-Florida Council in Dothan for the past 17 years. In his free time, Scott loved to fish, watch Mississippi State sports, and most importantly spend time with his friends and two sons.

Words can never express the thanks and appreciation his family would like to extend to his friends in Dothan and surrounding area for their love and support of Scott. They were not just his friends; they were his family and people with whom he was very very proud. A member of Covenant United Methodist Church, Scott’s priorities in life were his faith, his family, and his friends for which he had unending love and loyalty. He would have done anything for them as they would have done anything for him.

Scott was preceded in death by his mother, Nan Roberts Hill; and his paternal grandparents, Ned and Linda Hill; and his maternal grandparents John and Florence Roberts.

Survivors include his parents, William and Susan Hill; his brother, Wright Melissa Hill; his sons, Justin Fuqua and Russell Fuqua; his grandchild, McKinley Fuqua; his step-brothers, Kirk Sara Camp Milam and Ewing Jane Milam; his nephews, Chandler Welgos, Ewing Milam and Connor Hill; and several cousins.

The family requests in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to the Alabama-Florida Council of the Boy Scouts of America in Dothan. Scott proudly spent his career raising funds and support for the boy scouts, something he truly believed in, and his family hopes that he can continue to do so even after his death.

Burial Date: January 1, 1970
