Sheila Dianne Jenkins Horton a resident of Valdosta, GA passed away on Tuesday, October 26, 2010 at her sister’s residence in Dothan. She was 55.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, October 30, 2010 at the Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Lonnie Grant and Rev. Betty Bell officiating and Robert Byrd directing. The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home.
Ms. Horton was born on December 27, 1954 in Houston County and lived the early part of her life in Grimes. She was a 1973 graduate of Dale County High School and received two Masters Degrees from Troy University. While a student at Troy she was a member of Alpha Delta Pi sorority, crowned Miss Venus, and served as secretary of the Student Government Association. She moved to Valdosta in 1982 and has resided there for the past 28 years where she was employed with the city school system for over 20 years as a counselor until her retirement. Ms. Horton was preceded in death by her parents William Thomas Jenkins and Henrietta Jenkins, and her brothers, James Donald Jenkins, James Ricky Jenkins, and Tommy Rex Jenkins.
Survivors include her sons, Trae Pippin and his wife Jessica of Valdosta, GA and Tommy Pippin and his wife Sherrie of West Virginia; a daughter K.C. Horton of Valdosta, GA; 3 grandchildren, Parker Pippin, Will Pippin, and Matthew Pippin; a brother Jerry Jenkins of Leesburg, GA; sisters, Brenda Jenkins of Houston, TX and Barbara Hamilton and her husband Craig of Dothan; several nieces and nephews also survive.
