September 9, 1960 — April 3, 2013

Sonya Lee Morris, 52, of Malvern passed away Wednesday, April 3, 2013 at a local hospital.

Funeral services will be 10:30 am Saturday, April 6, 2013 at Sunset Funeral Home with Rev. Jeff Ross officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park with Robert Byrd directing. The family will receive friends 6-8 pm Friday at the funeral home. Flowers are being accepted or memorial donations may be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, 100 Chase Park, Birmingham, AL, 35244.

Mrs. Morris was born September 9, 1960 in Columbus, OH and lived the early part of her life in Allen Park, MI. She attended Dothan High School after moving to Dothan in 1975. She was a homemaker and avid gardener and enjoyed needle pointing in her spare time. She was a member of Pathway Baptist Church. Sonya was preceded in death by her husband Billy Royce Morris, Jr., an infant daughter Danielle Morris and her mother Saundra Parpolowicz.

Survivors include her companion David Money; her sons, Billy R. Alicia Dukes Morris, III, Philip George Cara Gail Morris, Joshua Lee Marah Elizabeth Morris, and Allen Dawn Money; 4 grandchildren, Cali Money, Eli Money, Lincoln Royce Morris, and Harper Gray Morris; her father William G. Vi McMurtry; her brother William McMurtry; her sisters, Tonya Drake, Deborah Turner, and Diane McMurtry; several nieces and nephews also survive.

Serving as pallbearers will be Scot Ginther, Allen Money, Shawn Culver, Jackie Turner, Richard Parks, and Brian Holloway.

The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to the nurses and staff of 3rd East and CCU at Southeast Alabama Medical Center for their loving care shown during the past several months.
