Sterling Burch Poole

Sterling Burch Poole, a resident of Dothan, passed away on Monday, July 11, 2022. He was 82 years old.

Funeral services will be held 2:00pm on Friday, July 15, 2022 at Sunset Funeral Home chapel with Dr. Ernie Gray officiating. Burial will follow at Pinckard Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the services. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Cloverdale United Methodist Church or Pinckard Memorial Cemetery fund.

Burch was born on November 4, 1939 to Hubert Sidney and Wanda Ione Burch Poole in Geneva County, AL. He grew up in Pondtown Community and attended Pondtown United Methodist Church. He graduated from Geneva County High School with the Class of 1958 and formed lifelong friendships with many of his classmates. He became a licensed Aircraft Mechanic. He worked with several contractors and ended his 39 year career with Dyncorp at Ft. Rucker. Burch was a dedicated member of Cloverdale United Methodist Church for over 50 years. Burch enjoyed spending time with family and special friends. As long as his health allowed, he enjoyed attending his grandchildren's recitals and sporting events. He enjoyed playing golf, spending time at Compass Lake boating and skiing, and working in his yard.

Burch was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Rueben Poole and Johnny Poole; and his brothers-in-law, Adger Thomas and Billy Andrews.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Sue Andrews Poole; his daughters, Suzanne (Rick) Holston and Shannon (Andy) Grammer; his grandchildren, Chloe Grammer, Katie Holston, Jeff Holston, and Nick Grammer; his sister, Joan Thomas; his sisters-in-law, Pat Poole, Sherry (Jerry) Hoole, Judy (Bill) Roberts, and Charlotte Andrews; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family.
