Steven Durbin, 77, of Ozark, AL passed away on Wednesday, December 7, 2022 at Southeast Health.
Steven, known by friends and family as Steve, was born on September 5, 1945 in Corinth, Mississippi to George and Mary (Johnson) Durbin. Growing up, Steve got to experience the life of the military while following his father to different military bases across the world. After graduating high school, he too decided to make the honorable decision to join the U.S. Army. For the next 20 years, Steve faithfully served the United States Army. Upon retirement, he refused to stay still and decided to return to Fort Rucker as an aircraft mechanic for the next 21 years.
Steve was known for his witty sense of humor and love of reading. He enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren, tinkering with projects in his workshop, fishing, grilling, and talking about history. He could make anyone laugh and was always willing to help a friend in need. He cared deeply for those around him and will be missed by all who knew him.
Steve is survived by his children Connie (Ray) Bonin of Ariton, AL, Frances Durbin of Ozark, AL, Heather (Marshall) Bishop of Orlando, FL, and Steven (Victoria) Durbin of Enterprise, AL; his grandchildren Dustin Quaid, Adam Bonin, Meagan Bonin, Skylar Bishop, Zachary (Zach) Bishop, Fiona Durbin, and Gavin Bonin.
