Sue Downs

Hazel Luvern Sue Evans Downs, passed away Monday, November 16, 2015.

Sue was born April 3, 1935; the sixth of seven children of Joseph Dewey Evans and Jessie Alma McCullers Evans. A previous resident of Marbury and Montgomery; currently residing in Dothan, she was an active Member of Calvary Baptist Church and was retired from Flowers Home Health Care, Dothan.

Sue is survived by two sons, James Michael Downs, Pat, Dothan and Jeffrey Craig Downs, Atlanta; two granddaughters, Allison Downs Moody, Tommy and Whitney Downs Turnbull, Steven; and one great granddaughter, Roman Michele Romey Moody, all of Dothan; one sister, Mavis Evans Gray, Montgomery; numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband, JE Downs; her parents; brothers, JD, Leon, and Walter; sisters, Margie and Lucille.

Visitation will be held at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home, 1700 Barrington Road, Midland City, Dothan Thursday, November 19th, 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm. Funeral Services will be held Friday, November 20th, 2:30 pm, with visitation prior to the service at 1:30 pm until 2:15 pm, at Wadsworth Baptist Church, 2780 Highway 143, Deatsville, Alabama, with Reverend Paul Thompson and John Downs officiating. Burial will immediately follow in Wadsworth Baptist Cemetery. Flowers accepted or donations may be made to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. A special thank you from the family to Covenant Hospice.

Serving as Pallbearers are Dewayne Downs, Jed Downs, Parker Downs, Mark Driver, Phillip Evans, Steve Evans, Wayne Evans, Vincent Tortorici, and Joe Varner.
