Sybil Inez Burns, a resident of Dothan passed away on Thursday, November 4, 2010 at her residence. She was 76.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, November 6, 2010 at the Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Van Gauthe and Rev. Ronald Kirkland officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park with Robert Byrd directing. The family will receive friends from 1-2 pm on Saturday at the funeral home.Mrs. Burns was born on October 22, 1934 in Houston County and lived the early years of her life in Dothan. She was married in 1951 to the late James Burns who was in the U.S. Navy and lived in several places during his military career. She moved back to Dothan in 1967 and was a homemaker. She volunteered at “Thee Store” with the Columbia Baptist Association and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. Mrs. Burns was preceded in death by her husband James Burns and a brother Jimmy Kirkland.Survivors include her sons, Mike Burns and his wife Dianne of Dothan and Mark Burns and his wife Barbara of Massachusetts; 2 grandchildren, James Burns and his wife Michelle and Eddie Burns and his wife Kim; 5 great-grandchildren, Lee Jordan, Matthew Lynch, Taylor Burns, James Burns, and Matthew Burns; a sister Moody Jo Kirkland of Thomasville, GA; a sister-in-law Monette Kirkland of Esto, FL; several nieces and nephews also survive. Burial Date: January 1, 1970
